Do you truly grasp the true essence of Valentine's Day?
The deep meaning of Valentines day originally stems from a Christian feast honouring a martyr named Valentine and is about sacrifice and devotion, love and honor, in the face of overwhelming and dangerous odds.
St. Valentine, fearlessly embraced the prospect of sacrificing his very life in the name of love and matrimony.
In our modern era, Valentine’s Day has transformed into a commercialised extravaganza, where the focus often lies on material wealth and the pressure to showcase affection through lavish presents.
REAL LOVE CANNOT BE BOUGHT
TRUE LOVE SHOULD NOT COME AT A PRICE
During my teenage years, I held the belief that Valentine’s Day was intended for secret admirers to express their interest by sending a card to that one person who had captivated their heart.
I must confess, Valentine’s Day has never held much allure for me. Love, in my opinion, cannot be quantified by the amount one spends on a single day. It is better measured by the consistent actions and gestures of affection shown throughout the entire year.
I refuse to apologize for coming across as dull, but rather, I would confidently state that if there is someone you have feelings for, express it to them openly. And if you truly love the person you are with, demonstrate it through your actions.
Remember, money cannot force someone to reciprocate your feelings or love you in return.
In addition not to get the two confused… LOVE [internal] does not happen in a short time like LUST[external]
True love takes time and growth.
For those who are high maintenance… true love means understanding and being mindful of the others’ financial situation.
For those who are taken in by consumerism of this commercialised day, why not take the opportunity to express your love and appreciation to your family and friends? Reach out to them and let them know how much they mean to you.
And for those who find the whole fuss unnecessary, remember that love, compassion, and kindness should be practiced every single day. Show your affection and care for all the people who are a part of your life, regardless of any special occasion.🙏🏿
