CHECKING YOUR THOUGHTS

--

We have the optimist and the pessimist. Which one are you???

The optimist believes that everything will turn out right where the pessimist expect the worst.

Some optimistic people can be seen as delusional especially if they are not putting any action into what they they believe will turn out well.

I was a pessimist for most of my life and the reason for this was that I felt the disappointment would not sting me as bad when things did go wrong and also because of my lack of trust in anything. I would not say I am a recovered pessimist but I would say that I have begun to stay neutral.

I have always been optimistic for others and not myself. I would allow the Negative Automated Thoughts (NAT) , even if they were not realistic, to take over my mind and my life. It is like an endless chatter in my head that cannot be switched off.

I am trying my best to deal with these NAT’s however they can overwhelm me.

So I have learnt from my studies a way to master these thoughts with STOP!

Simply pause. Take a few deep breaths. Observe my thoughts and any emotional response that i may be feeling. Proceed in a different direction.
