IS THERE SUCH A THING AS PEACE OF MIND?

--

In a world full of worry and pain can we find a space in our minds where we can finally have peace.

Stress is one of the major causes of a lot of illnesses and sometimes they build up over the years and may end up terminal.

I do not believe that you can be worry-free, but you can manage how you choose to manage your mind-set, whether it be through meditation or faith in God or what you believe is your higher power.

I am a stress-head, I worry about things I have no control over, and I tend to create scenarios in my head that can trigger my depression. I guess the media does not help, not that I listen to the news often, but we all know there is always going to be a sad story. Sad stories sell, sad stories equal publicity.

There are many sad things that we will all experience in our lives, whether it be through the choices we make or the inevitability of what is surely guaranteed in the future. So, we really must be mindful of how we spend the time in our heads.

Negative thinking does you damage!!

That sentence is totally obvious, but how much time do we want to ruminate on something negative and become deluded that it is real.

THOUGHTS ARE NOT FACTS!!

I do not have all the answers as I am a warrior, going through the ‘Battle of the Negative Mind’, I find it easier to bring someone else to a positive solution and must work ten times harder on myself to get to a balanced conclusion.

I cannot just switch off from a worry, whatever it might be, I pray, or I sometimes share it with someone I can trust, and usually this will give me strength to manage it better. It is like putting a temporary plaster on a wound.

The reason for such anxiety and stress is because of the kind of world we live in, the unsavoury people we hear about, and how destroying a person’s life whether voluntarily or recklessly means nothing to them.

I decided to not have any children, for many reasons, one of them being that I would be worried about how they are going to survive this wicked world, who they will let influence them on their decision or will they become another sad statistic with racism or the police because of the colour of their skin. I reiterate what I am saying this is one of many reasons.

As an infant, having responsible parents, I never had to worry about anything, I had the security of a roof over my head, three meals a day, a clean home, and a warm bed and I had faith in my parents who protected me from what a lot of infant children are exposed to today. I knew there I must not talk or accept anything from strangers.

Back in the 70’s, they did have more meaningful adverts than they have today, the government took an interest in keeping children safe, whether it be crossing the road or learning to swim and not talking to strangers. I do not watch television at home, but when I visit family, I have seen adverts and they are rarely about the immediate problems around, I find it is all about spending money.

I think that having peace of mind is ‘in the moment’ when you have all the people that you love in one room and the rest of the world outside.

Although I am not a parent, I have a family, nieces, and nephews and second cousins. I worry about them versus society. They are probably doing better in their minds than me but that still does not stop me worrying when I know that they will be working twice as hard to be accepted.

There are times when I wish I could be in a thousand places at once to protect them all from anyone who is going to hate on them or put them in danger.

I cannot have peace of mind, but I can make sure I do not give my negative thoughts POWER to make them become FACTS.

In everything there must be a balance, where peace of mind is concerned you must balance the negative with the positive.
