THE HEART BREAKING JOURNEY OF LIFE
As I sit on the train, my mind drifts back to the past, where memories of my time as a complementary therapist at the local hospice resurface. It’s hard to believe that twelve years have passed since then.
Reflecting on those days, I realize that fate had a peculiar way of connecting me to my clients.
Curiously enough, all three of them shared a commonality - their names began with the letter R. It was a small detail, but one that held significance for me as I saw them as friends.
When I embarked on this journey, I made a heartfelt promise to each of them - a promise to be there until the very end.
Two of my clients were battling the relentless grip of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), while the other fights against the formidable foe known as myeloma.
Sadly, the passage of time has taken its toll. My first client, diagnosed with MND, succumbed to the illness within a mere 18 months. The second, a few years ago, left this world, leaving behind a void that could never be filled.
Today, I find myself on a solemn journey to bid farewell to the third client who is like a big brother to me.
The hospital at Euston UCLH awaits, where I will say my final goodbyes.
It's a bittersweet moment, filled with a mix of gratitude for the time we shared and sorrow for the impending loss.
As the train carries me closer to the hospital, I can't help but reflect on the profound impact these individuals have had on my life. Their strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit have left an indelible mark on my soul.
Though our paths may soon diverge, their memory will forever remain etched in my heart.
